Alchemy project background
In 2023, professional violinist and best selling author, Noella Jung came to me with a rough draft of an original screenplay, where the lives of 3 artists intersect. Richly drawn characters. all speaking different languages, learn to connect and evolve as they chase their reason for being. The basic elements were there, but we saw the potential to create a more dynamic, artistic and impactful movie.
Together, we unpacked and reshaped the structure and storylines, and changed the location to Venice Beach, California. We expanded the scope of the project to embrace issues of human rights, while integrating themes of communication and sustainability. The movie will be called Alchemy in Venice.
While we pull together the cast, crew and financing, we thought it would make sense to share more about the project, as we're developing a property and products with a life that will live well beyond the completion of the film. As you can see from the sample pages, products and art will be created from trash and recycled materials, with a percentage of the proceeds going to related cause partners. We want to create a movement, leveraging the power of film and media to create change in the world...And it all starts with this book, based on the movie.
Thanks to the success of Noella’s book in Korea, we agreed that US audiences should have an opportunity to experience her unique perspective. We believe in the story, the creative development, and the potential impact of the book. So, why wait for the movie to come out and have a book be the byproduct of the motion picture? Why not take this idea of the presentation of art pairings and share backgrounds for the movie, characters, and related causes before the movie comes out? This way, the book and media campaign that comes with it become additional spokes in the marketing wheel. We’re going to have a comprehensive impact campaign connected to the release of the movie, but we decided that if we can make a difference now, we should do it.
